Self-hosted ClickFunnels alternative: install in 10 minutes
Run your own funnel builder, checkout, CRM and email on a $5–20/month server. A step-by-step guide to installing Launchtic, from blank VPS to first live funnel.
Key takeaways
Launchtic is a self-hosted funnel builder you install with one command on any Ubuntu or Debian VPS. Installing takes 2–5 minutes, DNS and SSL take a few more, and you can publish your first funnel in under 10 minutes. The Free tier has no license key, no contact limits and no monthly fee. You pay only for the server.
ClickFunnels starts at $97/month for 10,000 contacts and one workspace. Every plan above that is priced by contacts, workspaces and emails sent. Pricing is from clickfunnels.com, checked October 2026.
If you'd rather pay for a server than a subscription, you can run the whole stack yourself: page builder, checkout, upsells, CRM and email automation. This guide gets you from a blank VPS to a live funnel in about 10 minutes.
What you're installing
Launchtic is a source-available funnel builder you run on your own server. One install gives you:
- Drag-and-drop page builder with desktop and mobile breakpoints
- Funnels: landing → checkout → upsell / downsell → thank-you, with a custom domain per funnel
- Checkout on your own Stripe and PayPal accounts: one-time payments, subscriptions, order bumps and coupons, with no platform cut
- CRM: contacts, tags, custom fields, pipelines
- Email: broadcasts, sequences and behaviour-triggered workflows
- Built-in AI copy tools using your own OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini or DeepSeek key
There's a live demo if you want to click around before installing anything.
The 10-minute budget
| Step | Time |
|---|---|
| Create a VPS | 1–2 min |
| Run the installer | 2–5 min |
| Create the admin account | 1 min |
| Add 2 DNS records and wait for SSL | 1–5 min (sometimes longer) |
| Publish your first funnel from a template | 2 min |
DNS is the only step you don't control. Most providers update within minutes, but some take up to an hour.
Step 1: Get a server
Any VPS provider works: Hetzner, DigitalOcean, Vultr, Linode and so on. You need:
- Ubuntu 22.04+ or Debian 12+
- 2 vCPU and 2 GB RAM minimum (4 GB recommended)
- Ports 80 and 443 free, so start from a fresh server with no nginx or Apache on it
A server that size costs roughly $5–20/month depending on the provider. Full specs are in the system requirements.
You'll also need a domain you can add DNS records to. Launchtic uses two subdomains: one for your dashboard (for example app.yourdomain.com) and one for published funnels (for example pages.yourdomain.com).
Step 2: Run the installer
SSH into the server as root (or a user with sudo) and run:
curl -fsSL https://launchtic.com/install | bash
The installer:
- checks the server (ports, disk, RAM)
- installs Docker if it's missing
- generates secure passwords and keys
- pulls the Launchtic images and starts the stack: web app, page renderer, background worker, PostgreSQL, Redis and Caddy
When it finishes, it prints the address to open, which is http://<your-server-ip>.
Port 80 or 443 already in use? Another web server is running. Stop it (
systemctl stop nginx && systemctl disable nginx) and run the installer again.
Step 3: Create your admin account
Open the address in your browser. Enter your name, email, a password and a name for your first workspace.
Your workspace starts with six page templates (landing, checkout, upsell, downsell and thank-you) and two welcome emails, so you don't start from a blank canvas.
Step 4: Point your domains and get SSL
The wizard shows your server's IP. At your DNS provider, add two A records:
| Type | Name | Value |
|---|---|---|
| A | app | your server IP |
| A | pages | your server IP |
Click I've added the DNS records. Launchtic checks the records against three public DNS resolvers, issues free Let's Encrypt certificates and redirects you to https://app.yourdomain.com.
Using Cloudflare? Set both records to DNS only (grey cloud) during setup. If the proxy is on, Cloudflare answers with its own IPs and the certificate can't be issued. You can turn the proxy back on afterwards with SSL/TLS set to Full (strict).
Step 5: Publish your first funnel
- Funnels → New Funnel, then pick a template
- Edit the headline, form and button in the drag-and-drop editor
- Click Publish
The funnel is now live on pages.yourdomain.com, and every form submission lands in CRM → Contacts.
Before you send any email, connect an email provider (Amazon SES, Mailgun, Resend or any SMTP) under Settings → Integrations → Email Settings. The SMTP guide walks through each one. To take payments, connect Stripe or PayPal as described in the payments guide.
What it costs compared with ClickFunnels
| ClickFunnels Launch | Launchtic Free (self-hosted) | |
|---|---|---|
| Software | $97/mo ($81/mo billed yearly) | $0 |
| Contacts | 10,000 | No limit set by the software |
| Funnels | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Custom domains | 5 | Unlimited |
| Server | Included | ~$5–20/mo, paid to your VPS provider |
| Email sending | 50,000/mo included | Pay your email provider (Amazon SES charges about $0.10 per 1,000 emails) |
The honest trade-offs
Self-hosting isn't free of effort:
- You run the server. Updates are one command (
cd launchtic && curl -fsSL https://launchtic.com/update | bash), but backups and uptime are your responsibility. - You bring your own email provider. That improves deliverability control, but it's one more account to set up.
- Launchtic is younger than ClickFunnels. It has no course or membership area yet, and the project is still labelled alpha.
If you're fine with those trade-offs, you get a funnel stack with no monthly software bill, no contact limits and nobody who can lock you out of your own data.
